ABOUT BLAXICANA COUTURE

Hello, my name is Alece Plasencia  and I was born and raised in San Francisco, California.

I always had a love for design, fashion, music, and art and after many years working as an educator, I decided to create BLAXICANA COUTURE and design custom denim jackets.

Each one tells a story of music, art, culture, places I’ve traveled to and things that inspire me. 

My goal as an artist is to inspire others as well by creating sustainable timeless collection pieces to evoke conversation and a sense of global community. BLAXICANA COUTURE started in April 2019 at a Coachella day party where I sold my first jacket to an actress, Sohm Kapila, who purchased a jacket that ironically meant more to her than me because of the appliqués they contain: A lion (her nickname), Amore( her nickname for her fiancé), and a bumble bee patch (representative of her late mothers name who had recently passed away due to cancer). 

After many tears with my client upon hearing this story, it was then that I realized my why of my brand. My jackets are more than simply material but rather they evoke emotion and conversation. Since then, I have worked with many other creatives from film, visual artists, dancers, and music artists. It is an honor for me to tell their stories and have them wear mine.

Blaxicana Couture are one of a kind, wearable art, luxury denim jackets that are hand-crafted made in Los Angeles. The brand is a fusion of Black and Mexican culture, drawing inspiration from the vibrant colors and rich heritage of both. Each jacket is meticulously designed to represent the intersection of these cultures, making it a statement piece for those who appreciate unique, high-quality fashion.
